COMPREHENSIVE LACTATION EDUCATION AND IBLCE EXAMINATION PREPARATION

Want to become an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant?

COMPREHENSIVE LACTATION PROGRAMME.

This is a face-to-face in depth lactation specific training course, facilitated by an experienced International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) who also has professional Training the Trainer/Adult Education qualifications.  The course prepares people for the IBLCE exam as well as enabling participants to provide accurate current and consistent information about breastfeeding and lactation and preparing them to support new families in feeding their babies from birth through the process of weaning. The course will reflect the IBLCE Detailed Content Outline of the IBLCE . The 12 day course will be held over approx. a 12 month period every year.  Each day of the course is "Stand-alone" so individual sessions can be completed over a number of years and in any order until you have completed the whole series.   I also provide shorter examination preparation courses which are 42 hrs (6 x 7 hrs) in duration.

Who should attend this course?
  • Individuals who want preparation for becoming a Board Certified Lactation Consultant
  • Midwives, PHN's or Paediatric, Neonatal, Practice nurses working with mother/baby dyads
  • Obstetricians, or GP's, or any Health Care professional involved in the routine early care of newborns
  • Breastfeeding Counsellors, La Leche League leaders updating skills or knowledge
  • IBCLC's seeking CERPS or exam preparation for re-certification.

Information on the course:
  • The 12 study days are linked and are held from 9am to 5.30 pm with a break for lunch.
  • Study days combine lecture, practical skills, demonstration and practice, videos, discussions, role-plays and games
  • Each topic will clearly link theory to practice and there will be lots of variety in both method and content.
  • Individual days can be booked but priority will be given to those who wish to book the whole course. (see list of days below)
  • Catch up on any missed days in subsequent years.
  • Babes in arms are welcome, however the venue is not suitable for mobile babies. Please also note that if your baby is distracting you then it is likely they are also distracting others, so if your baby cries or needs to be attended to quietly then feel free to step outside for a few minutes.
  • At the end of each day there will be a short question session to assist recall, understanding and application.
  • There will be time allocated to the exploration of the use of reflective journalling to assist ongoing learning
Upcoming dates: BEING REVIEWED AS OF JUNE 2019 - WILL GET BACK WITH DATES AND VENUES ASAP.
